Gutenberg (Mini-) Review: The Future of WordPress

You are here: Home » WordPress » Gutenberg (Mini-) Review: The Future of WordPress

Last Updated: December 13, 2018 Leave a Comment

I truly believe that Gutenberg and the block editor is the future of WordPress and will do great things overall. The Gutenberg markup falls into the background gracefully and it replaces a lot of the basic content editing functionality that was driving people to page builders. I have no doubt that as it matures this way of working will eat up and transmorph many plugins.

The only consideration right now is it is still the “future” of WordPress and there are still many plugins and legacy ways of doing things that won’t work 100% as expected with the new editor. When this happens, you can just flip the switch for the classic editor but I worry about the historic content that may break without people even being aware over the long term.

This plugin is a solid start but there is still some way to go. Either way, I’m all in where possible and looking forward rather than back!
